Your Partner in Myopia Management

Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a vision condition that typically develops at a young age, making distant objects appear blurry. We strive to be your partners in long-term myopia management to control its progression.

Our goal is to help your children achieve clear vision at all distances. Schedule their comprehensive children’s eye exam to begin your myopia control journey with us today.

Getting Familiar with Myopia

Myopia can develop gradually or rapidly, often worsening from childhood through adolescence. Myopia control begins with a comprehensive eye exam where our team can diagnose myopia and recommend long-term management options.

Myopia occurs when the eye becomes too elongated or the cornea has too much curvature, resulting in light entering the eye to focus improperly in front of the retina.

Common signs and symptoms of myopia may include:

  • Blurry vision when looking at distant objects
  • Headaches caused by eyestrain
  • Persistent squinting
  • Blinking excessively

Mild myopia can sometimes be difficult to notice for children, and some symptoms may not be noticeable at all initially. It’s essential to schedule frequent eye exams for your children so our team can stay up-to-date on their visual development.

Our Myopia Control Approach

The first step to myopia control is booking a comprehensive eye exam so our team can get to the bottom of your child’s visual needs. From there, we offer different myopia control solutions to help keep your child’s vision clear.

Low-dose atropine eye drops are a promising treatment method for childhood myopia. Studies have shown that a low dose of atropine in the form of eye drops can help slow the progression of myopia in children to prevent severe nearsightedness.

The dosage prescribed is dependent on your child’s vision needs. Atropine eye drops require consistent use to slow the progression of myopia.

Multifocal contact lenses and glasses can help slow the progression of myopia in children. Multifocal lenses can help slow eye growth and, as a result, prevent children’s lens prescriptions from worsening.

Ortho-k contact lenses are an excellent option for helping correct mild to moderate myopia. Ortho-k lenses are inserted at night and removed in the morning, allowing you to see clearly throughout the day by temporarily reshaping the cornea to improve vision.
